Year 3/4 Hounslow Sports Day
On Thursday, a team of athletes from Years 3 and 4 travelled to Cranford Community College to compete in a sports day event against schools from across Hounslow. There were a total of forty-three schools competing in a hugely competitive event, so the competition was fierce! First up, was the group stage, where we would compete against five other schools in a total of seven different races, including relay, hurdles, football dribble and obstacle course. After a huge team effort, our team managed to finish 1st in six out of the seven races and qualify as group winners. This tremendous result, meant that we qualified into the semi-finals against three other group winners, with the top two from each semi-final advancing to the final. Another magnificent effort meant we qualified to the final!
This was it! The final! From forty-three schools, we made it to the last four! However, this team were not satisfied with that – they wanted more. They quickly got their breath back and they were ready to go. A pulsating race with lots of ups and downs. It was neck and neck, with only one member left to run. The changeover was perfect and John was off! It was still level turning on to the home straight! It was too close to call! John dived over the finish line. Photo finish! After a few tense minutes, the winners were revealed…OLSJ!!!
What an amazing achievement by this team, but what was even more remarkable was the way they carried themselves throughout the competition. They acted like true champions, consistently being respectful and dignified in both victory and defeat. They were a credit to our school. Congratulations!
