Does my child need to be Catholic to attend the Nursery?

No. We welcome children and families of all faiths and none. While our Nursery reflects the Catholic values of love, respect and kindness, we celebrate diversity and inclusion.

Is a Nursery place guaranteed if my child attends the Nursery?

No. Attendance at Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. A separate application must be made through the Local Authority and completion of another Supplementary Information Form for Reception.

When can my child start Nursery?

Usually children start school Nursery the September after their third birthday. At OLSJ’s children can start Nursery from the term after their third birthday, subject to availability. Please contact us to find out more.

How many hours is the Nursery provision?

We are a term time only Nursery up to 30 hours per week between 8.30am and 3.00pm. All parents are entitled to 15 hours of Government funded childcare a week for children aged three and four years. Eligible parents will receive an additional 15 hours of Government funding at OLSJ bringing the total number of Government funded hours to 30 per week. We also offer a limited number of paying places.

How do I apply?

Parents should complete the Supplementary Information Form and return it to the school office by the published deadline.

How are places allocated if the Nursery is oversubscribed?

Places are allocated according to the Nursery Admissions Criteria, which are published in the Nursery Admissions Policy.

How do you help children settle into Nursery?

We offer stay and play sessions, a gradual settling-in period and a key person approach to help children feel safe, secure and happy.

What should my child bring to Nursery?

Further information about uniform, clothing and daily routines will be shared once a place has been offered.
