Nursery Admissions

A nurturing start to your child’s learning journey

Welcome to Our Nursery

At Our Lady and St John’s Nursery, we provide a warm, caring and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. Rooted in our Catholic ethos, we nurture the whole child — supporting their social, emotional, physical and spiritual development from the very start.

We understand that choosing a nursery is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. Our experienced and caring staff work closely with families to ensure every child settles happily and develops confidence, independence and a love of learning. We welcome families of all faiths and none and celebrate the diversity of our school community.

Starting Nursery – Transition and Settling In

We recognise that starting Nursery is an important step for children and families. To support a positive transition, we offer:

•           Stay and play sessions with parents and carers

•           A gradual settling-in process where necessary

•           Regular communication and support

Our aim is for every child to feel loved, secure and confident in their new environment.

Our Nursery Curriculum

Our Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Children learn through purposeful play and adult-led experiences that support development in all seven areas of learning.

We place particular emphasis on:

•           Personal, social and emotional development

•           Communication and language

•           Learning how to care for ourselves and others

Children are encouraged to reflect our school values by showing kindness, sharing, forgiveness and respect for others. Opportunities for prayer and reflection are introduced in an age-appropriate and inclusive way.

Staffing and Care

Our Nursery is staffed by qualified teacher and an experienced Early Years practitioner who are committed to providing high-quality care within a loving and supportive environment. Each child is supported by our staff who work closely with families to support wellbeing and learning.

Special Educational Needs and Inclusion

We are an inclusive school and welcome children of all abilities. We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children with additional needs are supported appropriately and sensitively.

Transition to Reception

A place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. Parents must apply separately for a Reception place through the Local Authority admissions process.

We work closely with families and children to ensure a smooth and supportive transition into Reception, whether within our school or elsewhere.
